As part of our ongoing mentorship initiatives, our alumni and current Grade 12 students recently led a powerful session for their juniors—highlighting how research skills, learning habits, and academic identity begin to take shape as early as high school.

They shared practical insights to help any student start their research journey with confidence and make the process more meaningful and effective:

– Start early and choose a topic that genuinely interests you

– Use credible, diverse sources

– Read smart, create data sets, and work through dense texts with effective strategies

– Analyse your data thoughtfully and present your findings clearly using appropriate tools

– Write regularly to build clarity and depth in your thinking

– Don’t grade your own work—seek external feedback from peers, mentors, and academic review services

– Share your work by submitting to journals and research platforms or presenting at conferences and symposiums
