The Madhya Pradesh Learning Journey connected classroom inquiry with lived experiences, deepening students’ understanding of development in India. Through prior research, role play on the Bhopal Gas Tragedy, and exploration of development indicators, students built a strong foundation before engaging with the field.

Travelling across Bhopal, Panna, and Khajuraho, they interacted with communities, NGOs, and policymakers, gaining insights into livelihoods, governance, and cultural identity. Encounters with tribal communities, wildlife ecosystems, and historical sites enriched their perspectives on the social, economic, and environmental dimensions of development.

Through reflection and dialogue, students moved beyond theoretical frameworks to view development as a complex, lived process shaped by people, place, and perspective.
