Neev School

Early Years Arts

Creative Development is one of the six domains of learning and one that Neev builds early on. Neev considers the arts as a powerful medium of expression. Art is the first language that children use to express themselves even before reading and writing. Both Visual Arts and Performing Arts at Neev is an integral part of the curriculum.

Visual Art at Neev starts early with exploration of colour and advances into an understanding of art from around the world, developing children's own innate style over the years. Each Neev branch has a dedicated art studio where children are encouraged to express their creativity using a variety of media and materials. Art philosophy at Neev is holistic with a focused curriculum which is planned and executed in a continuum to enhance learning through the grades.

The curriculum is designed to kindle creative thinking and enhance skill development, knowledge and understanding, with exploration of both media and material to build aesthetics in the early years. The main aim of art curriculum is being fun through explorations to express and discover infinite possibilities reflecting the unique identity of a child.

Performing Arts at Neev branches into Music and Movement. Music is primarily focused on singing in English and other regional languages, playing instruments such as the tambourine, shakers, maracas, triangles, castanets, djembe and many more.

Movement at Neev entails children building on their large muscle movement that strengthen children’s core and balance, coordination of body movements. The movements explored are what come naturally to children and often include animal movements that engage core muscles, such as crawling, downward dog, crocodile walk, slithering like a snake on the belly and many more. This then progresses to simple dance routines with repetitive sequence of steps. The K1 and K2 also engage in theatre sessions as a form of creative expression.

Educators at Neev foster creativity by valuing each child's uniqueness and creativity with the hope that they become artists in their own rights.
