Shared Understanding of High Quality Learning

Learning Philosophy

High Quality Learning (DOL)

At Neev Schools, we believe in fostering a learning environment that embraces a 'whole child approach.' The COVID-19 pandemic has prompted reflection on the role of education in preparing young learners for an unpredictable future. Our learning philosophy centers on 'relationship building' and the 'well-being' of each individual, which have remained fundamental throughout these challenging times. These core beliefs guide us in defining the competencies of Neev graduates, from Early Years to High School, through five impact statements.

The impact we seek in our learners which we define as our High Quality Learning is articulated as below.

Self-Directed Learners

We want our learners to be Self-directed learners who will be able to learn autonomously throughout their lives in order to achieve their potential, keep pace with change and meet emerging opportunities.

Effective Communicators

We want our learners to be effective Communicators and engage with people, ideas, stories, and emotions positively and capably across multiple environments as part of their engagement with others and contributions to the world around them.

Empathetic Collaborators

We want our learners to be empathetic Collaborators, who will be able to lead and contribute to the design of thoughtful solutions and responses to opportunities in an increasingly interconnected and complex world.

Highly Capable Disciplinary Thinkers

We want our learners to be highly capable Disciplinary Thinkers who are able to use sophisticated tools and strategies to learn, extend and transfer their learning and engage positively in the complex and ambiguous world around them.

Mindful Community Builders

We want our learners to be mindful Community Builders who use their developing skills and dispositions to understand, take personal ownership, and commit to supporting the positive development of their local and global communities and all elements involved.

At Neev, these impact statements shape our definition of High Quality learning, guiding our community to nurture each unique child. This evolving definition of future learning continues to inform our educational practices, ensuring that we develop well-rounded, capable, and compassionate individuals prepared to face the challenges and opportunities of the future.

What drives learning at
Neev Early Years?

At Neev, we believe that learning is a lifelong journey, with the Early Years playing a crucial role in shaping the skills, dispositions, and habits that enable children to reach their optimal potential.

We view children as capable, curious and competent individuals; this image of the child stands at the core of everything we do. The key pedagogical concepts that guide our teaching and learning practices are as follows:

  • Play
  • Literacy and numeracy
  • Relationships
  • Environment
  • Role of an adult
